Caron Leid is an author, with over 19 years experience with Alzheimer's disease and caregiving. She was propelled into the sandwich generation after her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 57 in 2000 and having just given birth to her son. When her father passed away 14 months after her mom’s diagnosis, her mother came to live with her full time, where she still resides. Caron has had to navigate through the system in order to take care of her mom, while balancing her other responsibilities of being a mother herself. She has written two books Alzheimer’s- What they forget to tell you and her second book, just published, Dementia and theBrain- What they forget to tell you. She has spoken about living with the disease at two international conferences, is Vice Chair of the Older Adult & Caregiver Advisory Committee for AGE-WELL and has judged several poster competitions at Trillium health Day as well as mentored at Hack4Health at University of Waterloo. She is currently working on her third book as well as her Doctorate in Education. She hosts a weekly podcast for caregivers and has now founded the Reinvent & Restore Foundation for Caregivers providing emotional, respite and self-care for caregivers.
